USAL Project | Tea Blending & Meditation
Andrea Jimenez founded Herb Club LA to get locals to connect with the land in a truly personal way. It was in her field biology class where Andrea had the opportunity to become a certified Naturalist after learning about the native flora and fauna of Tongva land also known as Los Angeles. This opened a whole new world of understanding between our health and connecting to mother nature. It wasn’t again until the lockdown where she found reassurance that deepening our connection to mother nature was truly important and finally mustered the courage to invite others to reconnect with the land and its creatures.
For this Tea Blending & Meditation workshop we will gather around plants that have had a long relationship with Tongva land: Nettle, California Poppy, Wild Rose, Mugwort, and Elderberries amongst others are deeply nourishing and caring not only to the land but to its animals and people.
During the tea meditation we will listen closely to the plants and their messages. We will slow ourselves down to taste them and be able to pay close attention. Then, we will use this moment of connection with the plants to craft a more personal tea blend. Every participant will get to take a tea bag home!
This workshop will take place at Sycamore Glen on Occidental College's campus. While you're there, don't miss OXY ART's PST ART: Art & Science Collide exhibition Invisibility: Powers and Perils and temporary installation Last Whispers. Also don't miss the opportunity for a special behind the scenes tour of the Moore Laboratory of Zoology!
This event is presented by USAL Project and Getty’s PST ART: Art & Science Collide as part of the Northeast LA & Pasadena PST ART Weekend. USAL Project is a community providing experiences & goods for the modern outdoor enthusiast.
