Objects for a Heavenly Cave: Curatorial Talk and Performance
Oct42024
Marta presents a special program in conjunction with the current exhibition Objects for a Heavenly Cave, a show that features thirteen artists and collaboratives inspired by the materiality and mythos of the grotto, or artificial cave. Guest curator and scholar Krista Mileva-Frank will give a talk on the history of the grotto, followed by a site-specific performance by choreographer Kaylee Gibson, featuring dancers Nayomi Van Brunt and Whitney Schmanski, which explores the ecological resonances of the grotto as the archetypal haunt of nymphs. Sound artist Mia Garcia will present a live water-based score.
Presented by Marta - a participating gallery in PST ART: Art & Science Collide.
