Moffat Takadiwa's art integrates discarded electronic components like computer parts, circuit boards, and keyboards with waste from everyday products like toothbrushes, tubes of toothpaste, and soda bottle tops within his wall-hanging sculptures, offering a commentary on the intersection of science, technology, society, and the world at large. Through these repurposed and recycled materials, he highlights the environmental impact of the west’s focus on forcing culture forward without regard to the waste it leaves behind. Takadiwa's choice of medium symbolizes the transient nature of “progress” and consumer culture. His work prompts viewers to reflect on the consequences of innovation and the globalized nature of contemporary society. Through his practice, Takadiwa bridges traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, emphasizing the evolving relationship between humanity and the digital age and the resulting repercussions for the planet.
