Florian Krewer's paintings explore humanity and the demise of nature, through with conflicts, isolation, and the man-made destruction of our habitat. For several years, Krewer has addressed our climate, the environment, and social interactions in his art, at times evoking a sense of “nature fighting back”. This post-apocalyptic vision, where animals reclaim urban streets, serves as a powerful metaphor for the collision between our human interests driven by desire, and the natural world. In Krewer's work, animals act as avatars, representing both our primal needs and the consequences of our actions. They counterattack humanity, highlighting our role in the destruction of nature. Krewer poignantly states, "Mankind is its own demise... If we keep going like this, we will simply abolish ourselves as we successfully destroy our own habitat and people." His art underscores the urgency of addressing environmental degradation, emphasizing the self-destructive path humanity is on if scientific warnings about global climate change continue to be ignored.
