How humans treat each other is how they treat the biosphere. The master versus slave duality partitions the world into subject versus object, active versus passive, male versus female, spirit versus reason. Meaningful kinship with other lifeforms requires this template to collapse. A world without master versus slave, subject versus object, is a world suffused with spirit. ANNUNCIATION proclaims the rebirth of spirit out of the scorched and broken concrete of this world. Science and spirituality overlap in their openness to the new and unexpected. To be ready to be surprised, to accept that our universe is one of beautiful accidents, is to allow for the miraculous.
