Misc. Pippa will explore Pippa Garner’s interest in biohacking as a form of consumer technology. In the 1980s, Garner transitioned genders as part of an "art project to create disorientation in my position in society, and sort of balk any possibility of ever falling into a stereotype again." In Garner's view, the body is the ultimate site for tinkering. For nearly six decades, her mind-bending inventions have reinvigorated obsolescence with aesthetics, utility, and desire. Misc. Pippa will focus on Garner's work that deals with the human form, offering viewers a new lens through which to view her lifelong pursuit of satirizing technological advancement.
