Earth Data: The Musical
EARTH DATA / THE MUSICAL premieres this fall. Caltech Theater brings this new, original science-driven musical to life, as part of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and Glendale Library, Arts & Culture's Blended Worlds: Experiments In Interplanetary Imagination for PST ART: Art & Science Collide.
Earth Data: The Musical is a multi-media spectacle co-created with a team of engineers, technologists, researchers, and local artists. Inspired by real-life research from climate scientists Kimberley Rain Miner and Bradley Gay, the musical follows our protagonist, Mab, and her uncle, JJ, two scientists working to understand climate change and find answers for survival in the anthropocene. As they struggle to overcome enormous odds, will they risk their lab's funding to defend their groundbreaking research? Will they be able to communicate their discoveries to a fractured public, plagued by misinformation? Find out the answers to these questions and more on November 1, 2, and 3 in this original, thought provoking and uplifting musical!
Earth Data: The Musical seeks to show the realities of climate scientists, from the struggles to the joys of conducting vital research affecting our home planet. It is a story about coming together to fight for change and survival, standing up for what one believes in, and celebrating science as a human endeavor.
