Drop-in Tactile Filmmaking Workshop
Make camera-less movies and animate directly on 16mm film in this Tactile Filmmaking Workshops! Drop by the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and create your own vibrant moving-image collages on celluloid film using simple materials like markers, tape, pushpins, and ink. The individual strips of film will be edited together and screened through a 16mm projector, creating a community-made, collaborative film.
Inclusive activities also include making a keychain with collaged film strips to take home!
This workshop draws inspiration from filmmakers such as Len Lye, Oskar Fischinger, and Mary Ellen Bute, whose films are included in the Experimentation gallery in the PST ART: Art & Science Collide exhibition Color in Motion: Chromatic Explorations of Cinema.
