Community Day: Brackish Water Los Angeles
A full afternoon of programming at CSU Dominguez Hills University Art Gallery, including free parking and refreshments.
Noon-2PM: Biochar Workshop
The CSUDH Biochar Supercapacitor Research Group will facilitate an interactive biochar-based paint workshop that explores concepts related to conservation of matter and energy. Thanks to donations from Friends of the Los Angeles River, our paint is created from the biomass of invasive plant species found in the Los Angeles River system. Learn more about the different ways that carbon can be captured and re-purposed while painting and making fun science-themed potato stamp art.
2PM: Our Water Ways Screening
Sacred Places Institute will preview their upcoming film, Our Water Ways, followed by a discussion by Sacred Places Institute Indigenous Media team members Gabriella Lassos and Isaiah Mendoza.
3PM: Curators Walkthrough
Co-curators Debra Scacco and Aandrea Stang will lead a walkthrough of Brackish Water Los Angeles.
