In this talk, Carmen Artigas will offer an entirely new understanding of the sustainability behind natural indigo dye, highlighting the virtues of a color that transcends trends.

She will explore its origins, current production practices, and dyeing methods, as well as how it connects to the identity of cultures through their communities, artisans, and textiles. Additionally, she will discuss what the future holds for this delicate plant color.

Presented in conjunction with the Mingei International Museum's PST ART: Art & Science Collide exhibition Blue Gold: The Art and Science of Indigo.
